Our brains tend to focus on the negative. This is part of our survival mechanism.

It is easy to look at the South Side of Columbus and see the negative. Negative health indicators, violence, and a neglected physical environment are obvious.

However, beyond the surface indicators, there is much to celebrate. Neighborhoods of houses have been transformed, new facilities are being built, adversaries have become friends.

Last night, Church for All People hosted a party for the General Board of Global Ministries’ Church and Community Workers. This video clip shows the joy of the body of Christ in a community that many would label with negative terms. As one band member stated, you can’t dance and frown at the same time.
